Barry M spring nails

Work has been so manic recently that I haven't had time to blog, however yesterday afternoon I popped in to Boots to pick up the new Barry M Spring colours and oh em gee they are so beautiful I just had to show you guys.  I picked up Huckleburry as you can see in the pictures and also Pink Lady which is a lovely baby pink colour. Boots are currently offering a buy one get one free offer so get down there sharpish!

On another note how amazing is this weather?! I hope you have a lovely weekend enjoying the sunshine.

My Etsy obsession

Firstly I would just like to let you know that this post is not sponsored I am just completely in love with a certain Etsy sellers products!

My Etsy obsession is a lovely American based seller who makes handcrafted jewellery at very decent prices. I first came across her products when looking for a twenty first birthday present for one of my best friends and instantly fell in love with her designs. My favourite item is this silver engraved ring, I have bought so many of these for various people (including myself...shhhh) and everyone has loved them as much as me! They are also so reasonably priced, for about 25 pounds (depending on the dollar exchange rate at the time) you can have a handmade, silver ring which is personally engraved on both sides.

You can click here for Delias's page, she posts your purchases out very quickly however if you are buying for a specific event it would be advised to plan in advance as the products have to be shipped from America.

Oh by the way, I stole the lovely Delias's photos because they are so much better than my own. I did ask her if she minded me doing this post though so dont worry!

My 22nd birthday list!

On the 6th of March I will be turning 22, this is something that absolutely terrifies me as I feel like I should still be about 15 years old! Anyway, I thought I would put together a post to show you the lovely things that I have put on my birthday list this year.

1. Brow Zings by benefit. I have just finished my one of these (good timing hey!) and as I am such an eyebrow perfectionsit am in desperate need of a new one. I wrote about this in my ‘what’s in my makeup bag’ post here. It is such a brilliant product and has lasted me a whole year.

2. The body shop Satsuma shower gel. This stuff smells INCREDIBLE, it is probably my favourite shower gel ever, it lathers well, it wakes me up, it smells great and it’s not going to break the bank... any other reasons required?!

3. Similarly to my eye brow benefit kit I am on my last few spritzes of perfume and am in desperate need of a new one. Vera Wang Princess is my favourite day time perfume; I have been using it for years and years and never get bored of the smell. The packaging is cute too don’t you think?

4. Close your eyes and imagine the smell of fairy dust. A sweet, powdery, happy smell which makes you picture pink fairies flying around sprinkling glitter everywhere they go. This candle smells EXACTLY like this and I am telling you now, it is incredible! Lily Flame candles are all homemade in Somerset and the packaging is as great as the smells. Check out their website here.

5. I have been wanting a travel wallet for ages, I don’t fly that much but when I do I always seem to lose something. Once I lost my boarding pass in New Deli airport and nearly wasn’t allowed on my flight to Thailand, can’t take me anywhere! Anyway I love that this purse has sections for money, cards, travel and receipts so you can keep everything organised in one place. Its real leather as well and only £25... bargain! Available here.

6. Mmmm soap and glory bubble bath... need I say anymore?

7. How bloody cute are these slippers! I have an obsession with bunny rabbits, a full blown obsession and these are possibly the best slippers I have ever seen. I don’t actually know where they are from but I am currently trying to track them down online and will let you know if I find them!

8. I love the combination of materials in this necklace. It is from warehouse but available on ASOS here and I think it would look so cute with a high neck top.

So there you have it, my 22nd birthday list! Is there anything else you think I am missing and should ask for before it’s too late?

Essie instant dry oil review

I have become so ridiculously impatient when it comes to painting my nails. I used to find it quite a satisfying break and now I just get bored so I decided it was time to invest in a product that would save me the time. After reading a few reviews about instant dry oils I decided to go for the Essie one which I bought from amazon and can be found here

It isn’t the cheapest of products but it looks like it will last forever so I thought it would probably be worth it. Anyway what did I think? Um, well it is really weird! The information I have read about it all seems to be quite vague and I wasn’t too sure what to do the first time I used it so I waited a couple of minutes after putting my topcoat on and covered my nails in a thick layer of the oil. It is a very messy product, it doesn’t sink into your nails or dry, instead it sits on top of them and dribbles down your fingers. It does however make the varnish dry incredibly quickly. When I paint my nails I use two layers of colour and a top coat which means it normally takes a while  but when I used this I was up about knocking my hands around within 5 minutes.

If you do purchase this don’t put this on too thick, the best thing to do is wait until your nails are half dry and then apply a thin layer. When I have done this it has helped with the drying process and not made quite so much mess.

As for the claims of preventing chipping and increasing the life span of the painted nails I haven’t noticed any difference at all.

So would I recommend this product? Yes, if you want to save some time but be aware it is a bit messy!

What products do you use to dry your nails quickly? Am I missing a trick!?

The Sacred Truth- Lush face mask review

I have never been a massive Lush fan but recently went a little bit crazy in-store and oh boy have I been missing out!

I had a chat with a lovely shop assistant and decided that as I have combination skin with a mix of dry and oily patches  I needed the 'Sacred truth' face mask. This mask is designed to enhance and revive your complexion whilst the enzymes found in it strip away dead skin cells leaving you with a wonderful glow. Apparently this product is often used by older customers with ageing skin but it is also great for more youthful complexions.

The mask smells amazing, it is made out of  wheatgrass, green tea and papaya and the light scent seems to linger after you take it off which I really like. I tend to apply this product straight out of the fridge as it is so refreshing. After about ten minutes it is dry and I then use a face cloth and some warm water to take it off. It leaves my skin feeling clean, fresh and glowing and I would recommend this product wholeheartedly to anyone looking for a bit of a winter pick me up.

The one thing to note with this mask is that it must be kept in the fridge as it is made of entirely fresh ingredients and it will go off after about 3 to 4 weeks. If it is used a couple of times a week though you will easily be able to use it all up before it goes off. The smalls tubs cost 5.95 each so they are not the cheapest of masks but they are definitely worth it.

Even better, if you take back 5 empty pots of any face mask to a lush store they will give you a new one for free. What else could you ask for?!

Liebster Award

I woke up the other day to a very exciting comment from Andrea on one of my posts saying I had been nominated for the Liebster Award. This award is a way of discovering new blogs which don't have a lot of followers yet and gives bloggers the chance to nominate people they feel deserve it. Since then I have also been nominated by Nisha and Daniela and so it is now time to get on with it and keep this lovely award moving!

There are a few rules which have to be followed, you have to mention the person who nominated you, answer 11 questions written by them, nominate 11 other bloggers with less than 200 followers and provide questions for them to answer.

So here are my answers to Andrea's questions:

Why did you start your blog?

I started my blog because I spend so much time reading other people's blogs that I thought it was time to try it out myself. If loads of bloggers say a product is amazing I will go out and buy it straight away so I thought it was about time I shared my experiences with other people. It is also of course a fantastic way of keeping an online diary and record of what’s going on in my life.

What inspires you?

The idea of learning and experiencing new and exciting things.

What is your biggest ambition/wish in life?

To travel to every continent and see lots of amazing wonders of the world. I have been very lucky to have already been to Asia, Africa, America and of course Europe but I would love the opportunity to travel and see more of the world. Watch this space!

What is your favourite piece of clothing to wear and why?

My unicorn onesie, it is SO cosy.

Name 3 qualities you love about yourself.

I am a confident, ambitious and happy person and I love that.

What is your favourite style and why?

Anything and everything that Zoella wears because she just always manages to look so stylish.

Do you prefer new clothes or vintage clothes?

New clothes, I’m not so good at the whole edgy vintage thing.

Do you believe in "all natural" beauty?

Of course! I can be very self-conscious at times and I am not the sort of person to leave the house on a daily basis without make up but I think it is very important to embrace the real you sometimes.

What is your favourite brand and scent of candle?

Yankee candle, fluffy towels. This honestly smells like heaven has been grabbed and locked in a jar. When I have had a rubbish day I put my pyjamas on, light this and make a big creamy hot chocolate and then everything is okay again.

Describe the feeling you get when you press "publish" button

Ahhhhhh!

What would you like to accomplish this year?

Having graduated and moved back home in July I feel like I have a lot to achieve in the next couple of years. By this time next year I would like to either be working in a job with great progression opportunities or have moved abroad to explore the world for a year or two. I would also like to save as much money as possible and make people happy :).

Nisha's questions:

Why did you start blogging?

Answer in Andrea's set of questions

Heels or Flats?

It depends on the occasion because it’s great being comfy in flats. I do love getting a good pair of heels on and getting dressed up though.

What's your favourite season?

Summer, as much as I love layering up and being cosy in the winter there is nothing like throwing on a pair of shorts and a t-shirt and sitting outside in a beer garden.

Which one beauty product could you not live without?

A good lip balm, I can’t hack having dry lips. Oh and on that note my lush popcorn lip scrub too!

Are you an introvert or extrovert?

An extrovert, sometimes too much so.

What's your favourite clothes store?

ASOS. Does that count as a store?

Favourite lipstick?

Please Me by Mac. It’s such a good daytime colour and feels great.

What's your dream job?

Haven’t worked this one out quite yet!

What are you most proud of?

My psychology degree. Three of the best years of my life that ended with a great qualification and a very proud family.

What's your favourite quote?

Everything happens for a reason

Your favourite cocktail?

A blueberry muffin from Be at One, holy macaroni these are good.

And last but not least, Daniela's questions:

Why did you start blogging?

Answer in Andrea's set of questions.

When did you start blogging - and why did you choose that particular time to start up that blog?

I wrote my first couple of blog posts in December but decided to properly give it a go at the beginning of this year. One of my new year’s resolutions was to spend more time doing new and exciting things like blogging now I don’t have any uni work to deal with.

What is your favourite make up brand?

MAC

Which do you make more of an effort on - hair, make up or clothes?

Make up

What is your favourite blog? Name and link :)
Cliche I know but it has to be The Londoner, her life is just so amazing.

What do you enjoy the most about blogging?

I love being a part of the blogging community!

Why did you choose your blog name?

Lucy locket is what I was called by my family when I was younger so it just stemmed from there.

Drugstore or high end make up? And why?

Drugstore where possible, high end for products that need to match my skin tone such as foundation and concealer. I am also a MAC lipstick obsessive, blog post coming soon.

If you had £1000 to spend on make-up, what would be on your shopping list?

The entire MAC lipstick range, Chanel mascara, Daisy perfume.

Where would you like to go the most in the world?

Sydney, one of my best friends lives there and it would be amazing to go and visit.
