Bukowski

Brixton, previously not a particularly interesting place has had a massive renovation with some incredible results. I have had the pleasure of visiting many of the small, eccentric restaurants and bars now available in Brixton Village and every time seem to leave excited about the next trip, desperate to try another one of the delicious looking  restaurants.  The market has an incredible atmosphere of bustling people enjoying all sorts of different cuisines and happily avoiding the huge chain restaurants available around the rest of London. My two favorite restaurants within the market have to be Honest Burger and Bukowski. I have visited Honest Burger many times and never failed to have an excellent meal however my recent trip to Bukowski came very close to topping the incredible towering burgers, salty chips and delicious beer available at Honest. The long but fast moving queue outside immediately made me feel like I was in for a treat and the food being served confirmed these hopes. The menu consists of pulled pork, burgers, barbecue ribs and fantastic sides such as tobacco onions and waldorf coleslaw. The staff were all extremely helpful and after huge amounts of deliberation over what to eat I eventually decided on the ribs, coleslaw and chips. The food came very quickly and I was amazed by the fantastic flavours. I also managed to sneak a taste of a couple of friends pulled pork and steak which was incredible.  At the end of the meal when feeling as if I was about to explode I was faced with the very reasonably priced bill of £15 for my share of the food and a pint! All in all a brilliant experience and a restaurant I would definitely recommend!

Have you ever been to Bukowski? Or any other of the lovely restaurants or bars in Brixton Market? You can find the website here, take a look I promise you wont regret it!

Kalkan, Turkey

As I am catching up and filling you all in on the last few months of my life I thought I would do a post on my wonderful trip to Kalkan, Turkey back in September.

My best friend’s parents own a lovely villa just outside the main town of Kalkan. Myself and three of the girls from university decided to book an impulsive trip out there for the end of the summer to enjoy the last bit of sun before they headed back to uni for their final year and I... well I headed back to London without them :(!. Kalkan is a really beautiful place to visit with some fantastic restaurants and little bars. The locals are all so lovely and we spent almost all of our evenings sitting around drinking and talking to them. It was one of my favourite holidays EVER and I would really recommend anyone who gets a chance goes to Kalkan.

Have you ever been to Turkey? If so let me know in the comments, I would love to hear about your trip!

Graduation

Graduation was a few months ago now but I thought I would do my first real post on a brilliant, but emotional last day at university! Having been at uni for three years our graduation day was really special. We had all been so nervous about what grades we would get and in the end I graduated with a 2:1 in Psychology.

So the day started with a big bottle of champagne at mine with all the girls before heading down to uni to get all gowned up! Once we were ready, (and I had changed my hat 5 times to fit my head) we shuffled off to the hall to take our seats. The ceremony was surprisingly quick and not nearly as boring as we expected and before we even knew it we were heading off to the big reception for nibbles and even more champagne! We then had a table booked at Browns, which is a rather snazzy restaurant in Notts and after a few more drinks in the pub 19 of us headed there for a great, big delicious lunch.

At the end of the day it got pretty emotional when we had to say goodbye as we were all spreading out across the country and weren't too sure when we would see each other again. It is however safe to say that we have all managed pretty well and seem to spend an abundance of weekends curled up on the sofa at each others houses.
